Not Permitted
Fix "Not Permitted" errors when using ERM commands.
Problem
You're seeing a "Not Permitted" error when trying to use an ERM command or feature.
Difference from "Invalid Permissions"
These are two distinct errors:
| Error | Cause |
|---|---|
| Invalid Permissions | Your Discord role doesn't have the required ERM permission level |
| Not Permitted | The module is disabled, not set up, or the action is blocked by configuration |
Common Causes
Module is disabled
The most common cause. ERM modules are disabled by default and must be explicitly enabled.
- Run
/config→ Basic Settings - Find the module you're trying to use
- Change the status to Enabled
Module is not fully configured
Some commands require specific configuration before they can be used:
| Command | Required configuration |
|---|---|
/punish | Punishments module enabled + logging channel set |
/duty manage | Shift Management enabled + logging channel set |
/loa request | LOA module enabled + LOA role + LOA channel set |
/erlc commands | ER:LC server linked via /erlc link |
Run /setup or /config to check and complete the required configuration.
Action requires higher permission level
Some actions within a command are restricted by ERM permission level. For example:
/duty adminrequires Management level- Modifying another user's punishment requires Management level
Refer to the Commands List to verify the required level.
Still stuck?
If you've checked all of the above and the error persists, ask in the ERM Support Server with a screenshot of the error and the command you were trying to use.
