Units & Statuses
How unit statuses work and how to update them in ERM CAD.
Units are the staff members actively using the CAD. Each unit has a status that tells dispatch what they're currently doing and whether they're available for calls.
Unit Statuses
ERM CAD uses a standard set of status codes:
| Code | Status | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 10-8 | Available | Unit is available for calls |
| 10-6 | Busy | Unit is currently handling a call |
| 10-7 | Off Duty | Unit is not available |
| 10-10 | Break | Unit is on break |
| 10-17 | En Route | Unit is travelling to a scene |
| 10-23 | On Scene | Unit has arrived at the incident |
| Panic | Panic | Unit requires immediate assistance |
Administrators can add or customise status codes from the CAD settings.
Setting Your Status
From the CAD dashboard:
- Log in and open the CAD section
- Your unit card appears at the top of the page
- Click your current status to open the status selector
- Choose your new status
Status updates are reflected instantly on the dispatch board for all logged-in dispatchers and units.
Unit Identifiers
Each unit is identified by a call sign — a short string that dispatchers use to refer to the unit (e.g., "Alpha 1", "EMS-3", "K9-2").
Call signs are configured per user in the CAD settings, or dispatchers can assign them when a unit logs into the CAD.
Panic Alerts
If a unit is in danger, they can activate a Panic from their unit card:
- Click the Panic button (or press the configured keyboard shortcut)
- All dispatchers are immediately notified
- The unit's status is set to Panic and their card is highlighted in red
To clear a panic, the dispatcher must manually reset the unit's status.
Unit History
Each unit's CAD activity (status changes, calls attended) is logged and viewable in CAD → Unit History.
