Shift Management

Track on-duty time, manage shift types, and set activity quotas for your staff team.

Shift Management is ERM's core module for tracking staff duty time. It handles shift logging, break tracking, custom shift types, activity quotas, and administrative controls.

Configuration

Run /config in your Discord server.

Select Basic Settings then Shift Management.

Set the logging channel where shift start/end messages will be posted, the on-duty role assigned while a shift is active, and any default shift settings.

Starting a Shift

Use /duty manage and select On-Duty to begin a shift. If your server has multiple shift types configured, you'll be prompted to select one.

When a shift starts:

  • The configured on-duty role is assigned to you
  • A shift start message is posted in the logging channel
  • Your duty timer begins

Ending a Shift

Use /duty manage and select Off-Duty to end your current shift. The on-duty role is removed and a shift summary is posted to the logging channel showing your total time.

You can also select Break to temporarily pause your shift without ending it. Your break time is tracked separately.

Checking Your Time

Use /duty time to view:

  • Your current shift duration (if on duty)
  • Your total time worked this quota period
  • A breakdown by shift type

Viewing Active Shifts

Use /duty active to see all members currently on shift, including their shift type and time elapsed.

Leaderboard

Use /duty leaderboard to view the total time worked by the entire staff team, sorted by hours.

Shift Types

Shift types let you have separate configurations for different roles or activities (e.g., Patrol, Fire, EMS).

Each shift type can have:

  • A custom name
  • A dedicated on-duty role
  • Access restrictions (only certain Discord roles can use it)
  • A separate logging channel
  • A nickname prefix applied while on duty

Creating a Shift Type

  1. Run /config
  2. Navigate to Shift Management
  3. Select Shift Types and click Create
  4. Configure the name, role, access, channel, and prefix

Quotas

Quotas set minimum shift time requirements for your staff. ERM tracks each member's time and can show who is above or below quota.

Global Quota

  1. Run /config
  2. Go to Shift ManagementMore OptionsQuota
  3. Set the required hours per quota period

Role-Specific Quotas

Different roles can have different quota requirements:

  1. Run /config
  2. Go to Shift ManagementRole Quotas
  3. Add a quota for each role with a different requirement

Use /activity show to see a quota report for the current period.

Administrative Functions

Voiding a Shift

Use /duty admin, select a user, then click Void Shift to discard their current active shift without logging it. This does not affect their historical shift data.

Adding or Removing Time

Use /duty admin, select a user, then go to Other Options and choose Add Time or Remove Time to manually adjust their logged time.

Viewing Shift History

Use /duty history to see all past shifts for a specific user, filtered by shift type.

Clearing All Shifts

This action is irreversible

This will permanently delete all shift data for the entire server.

  1. Run /server manage
  2. Navigate to IntroductionShift LoggingErase All Shifts
